Interesting write-up of Lara's and Dravid's press conference.
Lara's response when asked about their collapse:
"...And if you want such a performance to take place, you would want it to happen before the tournament starts."Dravid still has faith in Sehwag:
"I am not supporting a Joe Blogs or Ramadin or something. This is a kid who’s scored 300 runs, who has done something in international cricket. I get asked these questions, and I keep wondering, is it Joe Blogs or something? I think you guys need to hang back a little and look at the situation"We liked both responses. However, we are all for Sehwag and disavow any links with 'Joe Blogs'.
Meanwhile, Sehwag is finding solace in yoga. All fine and dandy, but spending a few overs in the middle might do him a lot more good.
Peter Roebuck talks about the chances of the teams from the sub-continent:
We totally agree with his analysis of India and Sri Lanka's chances:
"Sri Lanka are playing well enough to reach the latter stages of the tournament, but might lack the power needed to take the spoils. India are the opposite. Rahul Dravid's side could easily come a cropper in the opening rounds, but after that anything is possible."However, we don't agree with his analysis of Pakistan:
"Nothing much can be said about the Pakistanis, except that they don't resemble a team on the verge of mighty deeds."We think Pakistan is going to make him eat his words. As we are fond of saying, when Pakistan's backs are to the wall, they are at their most dangerous. The team is not half as bad as people are making it out to be. They are well balanced and will cause an upset or two before everything is said and done.
Finally, monkey boy conducts one-on-one interviews with all his players. What people won't say in polite society (that old 'you have to be kind to people with double digit IQ' syndrome) is that Ponting is incapable of holding a group conversations (his attention span is not all that good, poor chap).
