Bangladesh Vs Bermuda, Group B

For a moment, our heart fluttered when Bangladesh was reeling at 37-3 chasing a target of 95. Luckily, better sense prevailed and we reasoned that the Bangladeshi young guns would not fold up under pressure like the Indians. They would not squander the chance they have been given. Batting on a sticky wicket, Ashraful and Saqibal Hasan saw Bangladesh home.

Bangladesh went on to beat Bermuda in rain curtailed match. They are into the Super 8's where they will get several more opportunities to bring down the other big teams. Whether this happens or not, Bangladesh should be very happy with their performance so far. Well done and good luck.

Nothing surprising here...

So, where do India go from here? For starters, I hope they go abroad more than play at home, and try to win on foreign soil. I hope they show the ability to
play for dignity rather than ad money. If they genuinely want to improve, then the allure of
advertising gains at home must be sacrificed for a few losses abroad. They could start modestly, by trying to beat Pakistan in Pakistan - or maybe they could start ambitiously, by trying to beat Bangladesh in Bangladesh. Else, they could start audaciously by taking on Australia in Australia. But, for cricket's sake, I hope they stay away from home games. It is giving them a warped sense of their abilities.

There is a busy season ahead of us. The highlights are: India goes to England in June, Australia comes to India for ODI's and then India goes to Australia at the end of the year for a full tour of Aus.

So, we have a lot of losses in front of us. This is a great time to be a cricket fan. I hope we see a new team come out of this purge.

India are coming here this summer? Excellent! I always like it when the Indians tour here, there's always so many fans dead-keen on spin-bowling to talk to.

I think you are right, though, India really need a purge. Uproot the old-guard; looking back can be destructive. Ganguly? That move was insanity. You need new brooms.

But, after a change of order, the team needs some stability, not just in the batting line-up, but organisational security and a more business-like approach to the game. A great opportunity for a re-think.

Shame that you're out though. Bad luck chaps.

What's more atheist, we will probably bring along Ramesh Powar and Piyush Chawla with us. They will give Monty a run for his money.

It's not a shame that we are out. I like to look at it from the point of view of saving ourselves from embarrassing defeats in the Super 8's.

After watching the Aus-SA match it feels like India was not even playing the same game.
