Akhtar and Asif Out Of The World Cup
Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Asif are out of the World Cup. They are still "injured". We want to bring the quotation marks to everyone's attention. That is meant to illustrate our savvy and skepticism about the duo's injury. We stole that from "real" journalists who are going beserk with quote marks and are using it in most newspaper reports.
Just yesterday, Inzi said that Akhtar and Asif were fit to play in the World Cup and this morning Nasim Ashraf, the PCB Chairman, indicated that the dynamic duo was still injured and that it might take them several months to recover.
We totally get it. Sometime between yesterday and this morning, they must have aggravated their injuries. Considering that Asif has elbow injury and Akhtar has knee injury our guess is that Asif was trying to hit Akhtar with a cricket ball while Akhtar was running around trying to evade Asif's accurate throws. You don't think so? Let's see if you can do better.
Javed Miandad, the legendary batsman, in-law of Dawood Ibrahim, erstwhile Pakistan coach, and world expert in imitating wicket keepers had a unique solution to the problem: Let's take two spinners to replace two of the fastest bowlers on this planet. Brilliant.
